ABOUT MAX HUMPHREYMax Humphrey is an interior designer based in Portland, Oregon. After working in TV and film production and touring the U.S. and England as the bass player in a rock band signed to a major record label, he discovered a passion for interior design. His latest book is called Lodge: An Indoorsy Tour of America’s National Parks.
EXCLUSIVE FABRIC COLLECTIONThe Max Humphrey x Pindler x Sunbrella exclusive collection features 10 patterns that combine his signature modern Americana style with the performance qualities of Sunbrella fabrics.
“I’m always on the hunt for the perfect plaid shirt, antique quilt, or floral bandana, so I created a collection of modern iterations of these classic design motifs. And of course I couldn’t have a fabric line without a quintessential gingham. My fabrics draw inspiration from a love of vintage and nostalgic memories of my New England upbringing. I wanted to create a way to capture that nostalgia while making the patterns usable and functional for everyone. As a current Pacific Northwesterner, I’m inspired by the colors I see in nature and bringing the outdoors in. There’s something here for everyone — from preppy to punk, classic to country.” |
HIS NEW BOOKMax Humphrey shines a light on 10 rustic National Park lodges in all their airy, timeworn splendor. No historic photos here; the images of the architecture and interiors are as they look today, highlighting these storied places in a fresh, alluring way. Sure, the lobbies are the main stage, but Humphrey touches on grand dining rooms, guest rooms, and rustic canteens alike.
He writes about the buildings themselves in terms of the historical goings-on at the time, why they were built, and the players involved, highlighting notable architectural moments and period-specific furnishings. A smattering of pop culture history adds extra bursts of levity throughout. |
We can't wait for you to join us on June 15 for a lively conversation, book signing, and lunch!
